Since 1984, Rex has consulted in a variety of industries, government organizations, and non-profits. Assessment has been a consistent focus of his work. He has designed surveys, tests, and inventories to measure attributes of individuals and groups. His research on the relationship between personality factors and job performance has resulted in numerous publications and presentations at scientific conferences. His particular interest is the compatibility of team members and the impact of personality conflicts. He maintains an active practice in coaching managers and executives.
Rex is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. In his 13 years as a commissioned officer in the Coast Guard, his work ranged from leading search and rescue missions in the Atlantic to consulting in the U.S. Department of Defense to serving as Director of Leadership at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Leaving the service to pursue a career in organizational psychology, he completed both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Counseling Psychology at the University of Minnesota.
